Parkinson's Disease is the second most common age-related neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer’s disease. Parkinson's is the most well known movement disorder caused by a degenerative process in an area of the brain called the Substantia Nigra (located in the midbrain) which is responsible for the production of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Dopamine's responsibility in the brain is primarily associated with movement.

Patients with Parkinson's often experience a resting tremor, difficulty initiating movement, low gut motility, difficulties with balance, eye movement abnormalities and more. Lesser known symptoms include but are not limited to insomnia, night terrors, memory difficulties, issue with depth and perception and unresolved shoulder pain.

Through the power of neuroplasticity improving symptoms and quality of life is achievable. Our goal at Better Brain & Body, is to make you as self-sufficient as possible through therapy, education and community resources.
