Anxiety is normal. We all experience anxiety at times. It is a natural bodily response that plays a vital role in survival mechanisms. Anxiety is regulated by our autonomic system which triggers our body's “fight or flight” response. Anxiety is helpful and adaptive when it works right, but if there is no real danger, it is not only scary, it is very exhausting. Anxiety disorders are considered a serious mental illness can cause such distress that it interferes with a person's ability to lead a normal life. Our goal shouldn’t be to dismiss it entirely—just to make it a healthy, manageable part of our lives.
