Childhood Developmental Disorders come in many different forms. However, many cause an inability to pay attention, exhibit appropriate communication skills, focus on tasks, or even properly take care of themselves into adulthood.

Functional Neurology is a specialized field that focuses on assessing and treating neurological dysfunctions through non-invasive, customized, and holistic approaches. When it comes to childhood developmental disorders, our clinic takes a multidisciplinary and patient-centered approach that includes the following elements:

-
Comprehensive Assessment: Every child is unique, and so are their developmental challenges. Our clinic begins by conducting thorough neurological assessments to identify areas of concern and measure initial brain function to optimize the patient's treatment outcome. The assessment begins with a brain map or a qEEG, that analyzes brainwaves to determine if there are any underlying areas of dysfunction. Brainwave analysis provides useful insight into the brain's functionality. For example, individuals with ADHD may have brainwave activity with high theta brainwaves and low beta waves. Theta brainwaves are slow brainwaves that are typically associated with daydreaming and sleepiness. Excessive theta wave activity in individuals with ADHD may contribute to difficulties with focus, impulse control, attention, and hyperactivity. While low beta waves may be associated with decreased alertness, concentration, and cognitive processing.
-
Customized Treatment Plans: Based on the assessment findings, we create personalized treatment plans tailored to each child's brain, needs, and goals. These plans often involve neurological exercises, approved technology-based therapies, sensory integration activities, dietary considerations, and lifestyle modifications. -
Brain-Based Rehabilitation: Functional Neurology emphasizes brain-based rehabilitation techniques. We utilize exercises, activities, and therapies designed to stimulate specific brain areas, helping to enhance cognitive function, sensory processing, and motor skills, while also treating the underlying condition.
-
Integration of Therapies: We work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educators, to provide a holistic and integrated approach to care.
-
Family Involvement: We understand that families play a crucial role in a child's development. Our clinic provides guidance and support to parents and caregivers, empowering them to participate actively in their child's progress.
Better Brain & Body’s therapeutic approach can improve the quality of life for those living with the effects of developmental delays by optimizing brain function. Better Brain & Body's therapies and techniques address these conditions' functional, brain-based causes and thus improve symptoms.
