Our Approach to Care
Looking Beyond Symptoms. Unlocking Potential.
Many people spend years searching for answers, managing symptoms, or being told that everything looks normal — yet symptoms are often only part of the story.
At Better Brain & Body, we take a different approach. Rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis or symptom, we seek to understand how the brain, nervous system, and body are functioning together — and how those systems may be influencing the way you think, feel, move, and perform.
Using our 7-step comprehensive examination and advanced diagnostic technology, we conduct functional assessments to build a personalized blueprint of your health, recovery, and performance. Unlike structural tests that capture a static image of anatomy, the functional assessments in this two hour exam analyze neurological function in real time — identifying root causes of possible dysfunction that may be contributing to challenges with cognition, attention and focus, balance, movement, sensory processing, mental health, overall well-being, and so many other downstream elements of brain-body function.
Whether you are navigating a complex neurological condition, seeking answers for persistent symptoms, recovering from injury, or looking to optimize your physical and cognitive performance, our goal is to provide a more complete picture of your health — and a clearer path forward.
Beyond The Symptom(s)
Symptoms can be important clues, but they do not always tell the entire story.
A migraine may not always be a migraine. Dizziness may involve more than the inner ear. Brain fog may be more than the work you do during the day. Chronic stress may result rewired brain chemistry. Balance challenges, visual disturbances, fatigue, coordination issues, cognitive difficulties, mood decline--so much can be influenced by multiple systems within the brain and body working together—or struggling to do so efficiently.
At Better Brain & Body, we believe it is important to understand not only what symptoms you are experiencing, but also why they may be occurring.
Understanding the "Why" Behind the Symptom
Rather than focusing solely on symptom management, our approach seeks to identify underlying patterns that may be influencing your brain-body connection and resulting function or lack there of. This is why our evaluations extend beyond a single symptom or diagnosis and instead examine how key brain-body systems communicate and function together in real time.
Because every person is unique, two individuals experiencing the same symptom may require entirely different strategies, medications, healthcare approaches, and specialized care. Understanding these differences allows us to develop more personalized recommendations based on your specific findings, goals, and needs. In addition to our two our exam, new functional neurology patients must complete our extensive new patient form before their neuro exam. This form will cover multiple aspects of your health history, helping us further complete a health blueprint, which helps our team, and Dr. Alicia Brown, tailor you or a loved one a customized treatment plan.
By looking beyond the symptom itself, we are often able to gain a more complete understanding of the factors influencing neurological performance and create a clearer path forward.
This whole-person, brain-body perspective serves as the foundation of every evaluation and treatment recommendation at Better Brain & Body.
A Whole Person Perspective
The brain does not function in isolation, and neither should healthcare.
Every aspect of health exists within a larger network of interconnected systems. Neurological function can be influenced by movement, sleep, nutrition, stress, physical activity, sensory input, recovery, metabolic health, and countless interactions occurring throughout the body.
Modern healthcare often relies on specialization, which can provide valuable expertise within a particular area of medicine. However, when systems are evaluated separately, it can become more difficult to recognize how multiple factors may be contributing to a person's overall health and function.
At Better Brain & Body, we take an integrative brain-body approach that considers how neurological, physical, metabolic, sensory, and lifestyle factors may interact with one another. Rather than viewing symptoms through a single lens, we seek to understand how various systems may be influencing performance, resilience, recovery, and quality of life.
By examining the bigger picture, we are often able to identify opportunities for improvement that support not only neurological function, but overall health and well-being.

Personalized Care, Not Protocols
No two brains are exactly alike. Even individuals with similar symptoms, diagnoses, or health histories may have very different neurological findings, challenges, goals, and opportunities for improvement.
For this reason, we do not believe in one-size-fits-all treatment plans or standardized, preprogrammed protocols. Every recommendation is developed using information gathered from your neurological evaluation, diagnostic findings, health history, lifestyle factors, symptoms, and intake form, and personal goals.
Our objective is to create a personalized strategy that reflects your unique neurological blueprint and supports meaningful progress based on where you are today—and where you want to go.
