Step 1: Strategy Consultation
Your journey begins with a one-on-one strategy consultation with Dr. Brown. During this in-person visit or phone conversation, she will review your concerns, health history, symptoms, and goals to determine whether Better Brain & Body is the right fit for your needs and discuss potential next steps.

The consultation fee is $75 and will be applied toward your future care, including our comprehensive 2-hour neurological examination — a cornerstone of the Better Brain & Body process designed to objectively assess the real-time function and connection of key brain-body systems. Once payment is received, your appointment will be confirmed by text message. If you have questions before scheduling, our team can be reached by calling or texting 704-752-8100.

Step 2: Intake & Case Review
Following your strategy consultation, new functional neurology patients will be scheduled for our comprehensive 2-hour neurological examination.

Our patient care coordinator will send you a new-patient email with your appointment confirmation, a welcome letter with basic instructions, and a link to the intake paperwork and a brain-based questionnaire. You can also find the new patient forms below.
After Better Brain & Body receives your completed intake paperwork and questionnaire, Dr. Brown will review your case prior to your initial exam and report of findings appointments. Relevant medical records, imaging reports, physician notes, and prior testing results are encouraged and may help provide additional insight into your case.

We recommend completing your forms on a desktop computer or laptop rather than on your phone for ease of use. Your intake paperwork and brain-based questionnaire play an important role in helping Dr. Brown understand your health history, symptoms, and goals before your examination. We encourage you to complete these forms as soon as possible to ensure the most comprehensive review of your case.
Step 3: Comprehensive Neurological Examination
Your second visit is your neurological and diagnostic exam and typically lasts about two hours. You can see what this exam includes by watching the clicking the included video. This comprehensive 7-part evaluation is designed to objectively assess the real-time function of key brain, nervous system, and brain-body performance markers. Using a range of advanced diagnostic technologies, Better Brain & Body takes a holistic look at how your brain and body function, helping identify areas of dysfunction while establishing an objective baseline for treatment and progress tracking.

Along with a detailed health history and physical examination, this in-depth diagnostic process provides Dr. Brown with valuable insight into how your brain, nervous system, and body function together in real time. The information gathered helps identify areas of dysfunction, establish an objective baseline, and guide the development of a personalized treatment plan designed around your unique needs, goals, and neurological findings. Because every brain is different, this comprehensive evaluation serves as the foundation for your care and helps ensure treatment recommendations are informed by objective data rather than symptoms alone.
Step 4: Report of Findings
Your third visit is the Report of Findings, a dedicated appointment where Dr. Brown reviews your examination results, explains key findings, answers your questions, and discusses recommended next steps. You can schedule this appointment immediately after your exam or on a later date.

This visit is included with your neurological exam and allows Dr. Brown to spend more 1-on-1 time with you to review your test results and discuss what a potential treatment plan may look like for you or a loved one. During this time, you can ask Dr. Brown any questions, share your concerns, and learn more about our approach and the state-of-the-art therapies we integrate--so you can make the best decision for your and your family's health journeys. All diagnostic test results will be emailed to the patient within 24-48 business hours at the email address on file.
Step 5: Personalized Treatment Plan Begins
Your treatment plan typically begins as soon as possible after the neurological/diagnostic exam. In the initial care phase, we seek to stabilize signs and symptoms. The frequency and intensity of treatments will be established during your report of findings with Dr. Brown.

The brain thrives on repetition, and our care plans are customized based on what Dr. Brown thinks you can handle. In our first phase of care, our treatment plans usually range from 3 visits/week for 4-6 weeks or 2 visits/day for 1-2 weeks consecutively (Intensive Care Plans). This varies from patient to patient and will be determined by Dr. Brown.

We encourage you to perform some of our brain-based exercises at home to further your progress. Depending on your care, Dr. Brown may prescribe brain-activation exercises to help optimize treatment outcomes. Your progress is continually monitored, and treatment recommendations are adjusted over time as your brain and nervous system adapt and improve.

Therapy sessions last approximately 75-90 minutes. Under most circumstances, you will be seen by Dr. Brown at each visit, but you will also likely work with Dr. Abi & our clinical assistants—who work closely together to support your care. On the rare occasion that Dr. Brown is out of town, you will be seen by Dr. Abi.
Step 6: Reassessment / Progress Review
For patients who pre-pay their treatment plan in full, we include a complimentary post-treatment diagnostic exam reassessment at the end of their initial treatment phase (15 visits). The full neurodiagnostic exam from Step 3 will be repeated, and the results will be compared with those from your initial neurological diagnostic evaluation to objectively measure progress. If you do not prepay, you can still schedule a reassessment at our original $800 price. While strongly recommended, it is not required.
You and Dr. Brown will discuss whether additional follow-up treatment plans and/or maintenance care are needed based on your objective, data-driven progress, subjective health status, symptom improvement, and other crucial factors to optimize health recovery and outcomes.
